This was supposed to be my third week of training, however, last week was just awful and exhausting, despite the fact that I’m on vacation from work.
On Monday it was 93 degrees and I ran four painful miles. My right hand was swollen and I felt so dehydrated, but it got done.
Tuesday, I drove to Virginia to pick up my nephew (it was supposed to be in DC, but anyway) and back. A 13-hour journey since there was a lot of traffic and a few accidents that shut down the highways.
Wednesday and the rest of the week: no running.
Instead, I downloaded a book on my Kindle and sat down and relaxed. Read on my couch, by the pool, etc. I’m used to being on my feet all day long and sitting gave me the worst back pain. What else I did? Bought a new living room set to replace the one I bought two years ago. It was so uncomfortable already!!! Furniture manufacturers build crap these days that doesn’t last. Unless you buy a leather sofa and well, I don’t feel comfortable sitting on leather…
So this brings me to week 3, or what is supposed to be.
Sunday, I took advantage of the weather and went out for a five mile run. It felt liberating!! Running makes me feel free.
Tonight, I ran 3 miles, as scheduled, but on the treadmill. I’m starting to hate it.
I trained for my last two half marathons exclusively on the treadmill and didn’t mind it one bit. Now? Not so much. I find myself looking at the time every two seconds. Painful, boring…although it gets the job done.
Tomorrow is my last day of vacation and I’m back to work for 4 12-hour shifts in a row. Not looking forward to it at all, but that’s life.
Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!
